Day 1: Favorite Book
This may come as a shock to those who know me, but my favorite book is not from Harry Potter series. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the Harry Potter series. I have a tattoo in dedication to it. But, there is another book far more dear to my heart, and I read it after Harry Potter.
Brom’s novel The Child Thief is one of my favorite Peter Pan adaptations. I’ve always loved Peter Pan, both the Disney film, and the classic fairy tale. I have a great connection with the character, and even in this dark retelling… the same connection was there.
This Peter is much darker than even the classic tale. He’s cruel, he’s devious, and he’s malicious… and yet you can’t help but love him. He redesign makes perfect sense for the world that Brom created. It’s far different from Neverland, and even the villain comes as a surprise in the end.
If you think you’re going to read the classic tale of Peter Pan in a darker light, you’re wrong. It’s a completely new story that will have you on the edge of your seat; on the verge of tears.
It’s a phenomenal story, as are most of his books, and the accompanying art give it that classic feel.
I highly recommend this book for any Pan fan out there.
